The Farmhouse is the original 1960s farmhouse at Fernwood Hills, set at the heart of the property. It is a warm, quiet upper-level space with a full kitchen, gas fireplace, long harvest table, bathroom, deck, and room to settle in without feeling like you are in a hotel.
For overnight use, it is best suited to one guest, or two guests when the purpose and timing are a strong fit. It works well for leaders arriving before or after a retreat, solo rest, writing, discernment, recovery time, or a private forest stay with more space than a cabin.
The Farmhouse is also a strong fit for therapy-style sessions, coaching intensives, spiritual direction, leadership debriefs, and private 1:1 or 1:2 meetings. The setting is residential and grounded, which makes it useful when the conversation needs more calm than an office or boardroom.
Because the lower level is occupied separately by family, Farmhouse stays are request-based rather than instant-book. We confirm fit, timing, privacy expectations, and access details before payment.
The Farmhouse is request-based, not instant-book. The lower level is occupied separately by family, so we confirm fit and timing before accepting an overnight stay.
Best for quiet use: solo reset, leadership rest, retreat-adjacent stays, writing, coaching, therapy-style sessions, spiritual direction, or private 1:1 / 1:2 meetings.
Not a party house or general group rental. If you are planning a larger retreat, event, or gathering, send an inquiry and we will help choose the right space and timing.

Each cabin has its own private fire pit with Muskoka chairs. The Farmhouse also has a dedicated fire pit area. Firewood is provided and stacked near each fire pit. No fires during fire bans — check local conditions.
Fernwood Hills has on-site nature trails through forest and meadow, accessible from marked trailheads near the main path. The trails are suitable for leisurely walks — not strenuous hiking. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight for evening strolls. The property is also home to various wildlife — deer, birds, and small forest creatures are regularly spotted. A wildlife camera live-streams from the property.

What's already at your accommodation: Linens, towels, pillows, basic cookware, dishes, coffee, tea, fire pit with firewood (complimentary), and cleaning supplies. What to bring: - Food and drinks (no restaurants within walking distance) - Layers for cool evenings - Comfortable shoes for forest trails - A flashlight or headlamp for evening walks - Bug spray in summer months - Whatever helps you unwind
Our cabins (Adler and Bracken) do not have an indoor washroom. The washroom is a fully plumbed facility with a hot shower, located a short 3-minute walk up the lane from the cabins. It's clean, well-maintained, and available 24/7. The Studio Loft has a private bathroom with a full shower inside the suite. The Farmhouse has a private bathroom on the upper level.
Firewood is complimentary for all guests — it is never an upsell or add-on. Every space has access to a fire pit. We keep it stocked. Just let us know if you need more. Fire safety: Never leave a fire unattended. Fully extinguish before bed. During municipal fire bans, all outdoor fires are prohibited — we'll let you know if one is in effect.

Request-based by design
The Farmhouse works best for someone who wants more room and more calm than a hotel room: a leader arriving before or after a retreat, a solo reset, a writer or facilitator preparing quietly, or a private conversation that needs a warmer setting than an office.
It is also available for therapy-style sessions, coaching intensives, spiritual direction, and 1:1 or 1:2 meetings. Overnight requests are reviewed before payment because the lower level is occupied by family, and we only accept stays that fit the household and the property well.
