Forty Private Acres · Carolinian Forest · Komoka, Ontario
Say Your Vows in the Forest
Intimate Forest Wedding Venue · London, Ontario
An intimate ceremony in ancient forest — just you, the people who matter most, and forty acres of silence. No DJ, no banquet hall, no hundred-person guest list. Elopements for up to ten guests. Micro Weddings for up to twenty-five. Guests out by 9pm.
Two Ways to Do This
Small and private, or intimate with a gathering.
The Ceremony
Rain or shine, the forest is always there
Four ceremony locations cascade in priority — you choose the primary, we align the rest. No tent scramble the morning of. No 6am weather calls. The plan is already beautiful at every tier.
Ideal weather — the reason couples drive from Toronto
The Forest Meadow
Sunlight through ancient oaks, wild ferns underfoot, birdsong instead of music. An outdoor ceremony you can only get on forty private acres.
Light rain or shade needed
Timber Pavilion
Open-sided and covered, strung with lights, built from timber milled on the property. Holds a ceremony and a reception. Looks better in overcast light.
Indoor — shoulder season or heavy weather
Studio Loft
Floor-to-ceiling glass, forest views from inside. Intimate and luminous. Where Micro Wedding dinners move on cold or rainy evenings.
Full indoor fallback — rarely needed
Farmhouse Great Room
High ceilings, warm light, and a fireplace. The original farmhouse has hosted ceremonies, dinners, and dances. A beautiful last resort.
Ontario weather is unpredictable. This cascade means you never have to choose between the venue you love and a plan that works.

The forest is the venue.
Forty private acres. Ten minutes from London.

Questions, Answered
What's the difference between the two packages?+
The Elopement is all-in for just the couple — $3,800 weekend, $3,200 weekday. Guests are welcome for the ceremony and a brief Timber Pavilion send-off, then they go home. Studio Loft, Manna dinner for two, overnight, and breakfast are all included. The Micro Wedding is for 11–25 guests — $5,500 weekend, $4,600 weekday. Farmhouse getting ready, forest ceremony, dinner under Timber Pavilion or Studio Loft, guests out by 8pm. Manna and overnight are add-ons or separate bookings.
What's included in each package?+
The Elopement includes: Farmhouse getting ready, forest ceremony with white pine timber frame arch, Timber Pavilion send-off, Studio Loft for the evening, Manna dinner for two, overnight in the Studio Loft, and a farm breakfast basket. The Micro Wedding includes: Farmhouse getting ready, forest ceremony, dinner under Timber Pavilion (good weather) or Studio Loft (bad weather), guests leave by 8pm. Manna dinner is an add-on at $75/person. Not included in either: officiant, photographer, florals, alcohol (BYOB).
What about the deposit?+
A 25% (minimum $400) retainer holds your date — applied toward your total. No full payment is due until closer to the event. We send a payment link and a simple planning agreement when you confirm.
What about alcohol?+
Fernwood doesn't hold a liquor licence, so we don't serve or supply alcohol. Your guests are welcome to bring their own, or the couple can arrange a Special Event Permit through the LCBO — about $25. We can walk you through that during planning.
Can guests stay overnight?+
The Elopement includes overnight in the Studio Loft for the couple. For Micro Weddings, the couple books the Studio Loft separately through the normal booking flow. Guest cabins (Adler and Bracken) are available at regular rates — each sleeps two, book via the normal booking flow alongside your wedding date.
What about catering?+
Manna by Fernwood Hills is in-house farm-style food — seasonal menus, family-style shared plates. Not formal plated service. $75/person, menus discussed during planning. We also have preferred London-area caterers — food trucks and fine dining — that couples book direct. No vendor fee. BYO is always welcome.
What's the weather backup?+
Lee calls the weather by 10am. Ceremony moves to the Timber Pavilion (covered, open-air) for light rain, or Studio Loft indoors for heavy rain/cold/wind. Micro Wedding dinner moves to the Studio Loft if the evening turns. All backups are beautiful — no tent scramble the morning of.
What time do guests leave?+
Elopement: guests leave after the ceremony and Timber Pavilion send-off — the evening is always just the couple. Micro Wedding: 8pm hard stop for all guests. This is by design — the day ends cleanly, and the couple gets the property to themselves.
What's a realistic all-in cost for a Micro Wedding?+
A Micro Wedding for 20 guests on a Saturday: $5,500 venue + Manna dinner for 20 ($75 × 20 = $1,500) + Studio Loft overnight ($300–400) = about $7,300–7,400 total. Weekday bookings save $900 on the venue fee. Also available: Ceremony Only at $2,500 weekend / $2,000 weekday.
Can we bring our own vendors?+
Yes. You arrange your own officiant, photographer, and florist — we don't mandate preferred vendors or charge a vendor fee. We keep a recommended list of people who know the property and work well here. Bring anyone you want.
